The Play Network (Bradford) aims to provide a fully integrated play service to the whole of the Bradford District; through working in partnership with the Voluntary and Community Sector play providers, Statutory agencies and funding bodies to ensure the sustainability and enhancement of quality play for children and young people.
Due to changes in the structure of our funding, the Play Network’s core funding is from the 1st January 2008 until 31st March  2010 to be a commissioned service, in a joint agreement between Bradford Early Years and Childcare Service and Bradford Council Community Development Fund. This is a positive step forward for the Network, as it will allow the Play Network to continue to evolve in line with current and future objectives.
As a direct result of our commissioning remit, the Network is now regarded as a lead Play Agent for the Voluntary and Community Sector (VCS) and will work very closely with two other VCS play providers; Eccleshill Adventure Playground (EAP) and Adventurous Play Experience (APE).
Over the next 6 months, the Network and APE will be looking at current distribution of resources and trialling new initiatives in an endeavour to operate a more efficient, cost effective services.
The funding body recognise the value of providing a bespoke delivery and collection service to providers, although new funding will provide us with the opportunity to develop new methods. This trial period will form the basis of a feasibility study of practice and our findings will be presented to the funding body in July this year.
Some current new ideas are Network events at appropriate settings across the district or merging with other organisations to operate a more inclusive delivery and collection service. Whichever method of distribution is piloted, we will endeavour to minimise disruption and continue to provide a high quality service as per the terms and conditions of your membership.
Furthermore, the range of resources will become more streamlined in direct response to membership requirements and district identified need. We will upgrade the themed boxes to include all art, craft and scrap materials so that children and young people can enjoy a more creative themed box. There will be plenty of inspirational ideas and available workshops to access either within the setting or externally. The usual favourites; Music Maze and musical instruments, JABADAO, Large Loan Equipment, resources for children with Special Needs, Sport Equipment will still be available. As a member, your feedback is vital and therefore every delivery should receive an evaluation form which we need completing, so we are able to make informed decisions about the quality of service you are receiving.
Thank you for your continued support.
