Why should you get Involved?

We believe young people have lots of ideas and valuable opinions. We want to give you a chance to inside have your say and influence your community inside BD10.

If I decided to be a mentor how much of my time will it take up?

The dates and times of the meetings will work round you. All we ask is that you attend two sessions every month and any other time or work you can give will be a bonus.

What will we be doing if I decided to be a mentor?

The projects and activities will be decided by you, the young people. We want your input into the Eccleshill adventure playground but the work and type of activities depend on the interests and needs of young people in your area.

What will the mentors get out of it?

You will not only learn news skills and meet new people but you will also get the chance to be more involved in your community. You will also gain valuable experience that will help you when applying for jobs or college. It will also look great on your CV.

What rewards or incentives will the mentors get if they are involved?

Although we can not pay you, we will organise trips and activities and give you incentives for being involved. For example we will go on a residential and provide you with food and refreshments at some of the meetings.

What if I want to get involved but can't attend the meetings?

We aim to set up meetings in your local youth club so if you haven't got the time to be a mentor, you can still get involved by attending the meetings at your youth club.

If deciding to become a mentor will it affect or interfere with my school, job or college work?

The meetings will work around you. During the times you have exams or have course work we can make sure that the project does not interfere with your * work, in fact we can help you with your revision and support you in any way we can.
